Dear Colleagues
It is with great pleasure that I can announce that Lufthansa Cargo Human Care was given the Humanitarian Excellence Award sponsored by CIFFA (Canadian International Freight Forwarding Association) Western Region of Canada.
There were four categories: Environmental Excellence, Humanitarian Excellence, Excellence in Innovation and Outstanding Community Contributions. This year the winners were Maersk, Lufthansa Cargo, Port Metro Vancouver and Air Canada respectively. This was a brand new format focusing on networking and the community rather than the traditional Quality and Best Carrier Awards.
Humanitarian Excellence – Any associate member firms that make a significant contribution through volunteer work, leadership or philanthropic efforts in their communities, improving the lives of people, are eligible for the Award. They demonstrate actions devoted to the promotion of human welfare and social reforms helping to improve the overall happiness of people.
The judges decided that Cargo Human Care deserved to be recognized with this award for 2014. I attended the Western Region FCA Gala Dinner on September the 26th to accept the award on behalf of CHC. I also had a chance to show the attendees a 3 minute DVD that summarized the wonderful work CHC is doing in Nairobi.
This award will be travelling with me to FRA on LH493/12 and I will be delivering it to the people that have actually earned it.
I would also like to take this opportunity to express my sincere admiration for the accomplishments of CHC and the wonderful work they are doing to help the less fortunate.
